Devlog #1: A First Look at World of Drift

After a long period of focused development, I'm excited to share the first official look at the core experience of World of Drift.

Hey everyone,

For the better part of two years, I've been deep in development, working to bring my dream project to life: a drifting simulator that captures not just the technical challenge of the sport, but also the creativity and community that make it so special. After a necessary break to recharge, I'm thrilled to be back at it, and even more excited to finally start sharing my progress with you.

What you see in the video above is the very foundation of World of Drift.

The Playground: Loop Haven

The track is "Loop Haven," a custom-built playground I designed specifically for drifting. Unlike a traditional racetrack with a single racing line, Loop Haven is all about freedom. It’s a canvas of flowing corners, open spaces, and interconnected sections, designed to reward creative lines and seamless transitions. It’s the perfect place to hone your skills and develop your own unique style.

A World That Breathes

A key part of the vision has always been to create a world that feels alive. The dynamic time of day and weather systems aren't just for show; they have a real impact on the simulation. The grip level changes as the sun dries a damp track, and a sudden downpour at night will force you to completely rethink your approach, relying on nothing but your headlights and your instincts. Capturing the atmosphere of a dark, rain-slicked track has been a personal obsession of mine.

The Creator's Toolbox

I strongly believe that a modern racing game needs to empower its players. A perfect run is meaningless if you can't share it. That's why I've built an in-depth, cinematic replay system from the ground up. In the video, you got a glimpse of the different camera modes—from broadcast-style TV cameras to a full suite of drones—and the interpolated slow-motion feature that lets you create stunning, professional-looking films of your best moments. This system is a core feature, and it will only grow from here.

What's Next?

This is just the beginning. The roadmap for World of Drift is ambitious, including a deep vehicle progression system, iconic cars, new tracks, and a full competitive tournament structure.

This is a massive project for a solo developer, and I can't build it alone. The future of this game will be shaped by its community. If you believe in this vision and want to be a part of the journey, the single best way to do that is by joining our community on Discord. You'll get behind-the-scenes updates, a direct line to me for feedback, and a chance to be part of this project from the ground floor.

Thank you for watching.
